Karen and Jan have been running this event for a number of years and their expertise is impressive!
There are two sessions held on the day - a.m. for Rainbow and p.m. for Sunshine.
The sessions, which are really well organized and resourced, are enjoyed by everyone - "new" children, siblings, parents , grandparents, TA's and teachers. The sessions begin with registration and the all important Name Tagging!
The Head Teacher pops in to greet everyone and then there is a little talk about how the session will run:
- 30 minutes playing in the different areas with parents
- Tidy up time - VERY important
- Drinks and a biscuit on the patio - kindly served by TSA members
- Visit in the classroom for story time with the wonderful classroom assistants (Thanks Sue and Lorna!
- Karen or Jan give a short PowerPoint presentation to parents (I run the computer!).
The presentation highlights the importance and value of play and a description of the six areas of learning in the Foundation Stage:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
